SYNOPSIS

Claudia is a young woman like so many others at the age of 20, torn between past and future loves, an abusive relationship with an older man and significant challenges to overcome. But Claudia has a special quality. In certain situations, when she is excited or angry, she transforms into a fantastical, mythological creature with white wings, fangs and cat-like paws…
Through Claudia’s journey and trials (and those of the creature she transforms into), the film tells a story of abuse and protection, coming of age, transformation, but above all, the discovery of her true identity.

DIRECTOR

Susanna Nicchiarelli was born in Rome. Philosophy graduate with a PhD at Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa, in 2004 she graduated in Film Direction at Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia.

After a few shorts and documentaries (some awarded with important prizes, like her Sputinik 5, winner of the Silver Ribbon for the Best Animation Short), in 2009 she directed her first feature, Cosmonauta, winner of Controcampo at Venice Film Festival, followed by: The Discovery of Dawn (2012), nominated to the Italian Golden Globes; Nico, 1988 (2017), Best Film in Orizzonti and awarded with four David di Donatello; Miss Marx, main competition at the Venice Film Festival in 2020 and awarded with three David di Donatello; Chiara (2022), her fifth film, presented in competition at Venice Film Festival. Chiara was also nominated to the David di Donatello for the Best Original Screenplay and the Best Costumes.

In 2023, she participated in the writing of the film Kidnapped by Marco Bellocchio, presented in competition at Cannes Film Festival, winning the Silver Ribbon for the Best Screenplay and the David the Donatello for the Best Non-Original Screenplay. She is currently working on the post-production of the series Fuochi d’artificio, commissioned by Rai Uno and based on the homonymous novel by Andrea Bouchard.
