“What’s Left?” by Donato Rotunno in official selection at Festival du film italien de Villerupt!
-We are delighted to announce the Official Selection of Donato Rotunno’s documentary film “What’s left” at Festival du Film Italien de Villerupt for its world premiere. The 47th edition of this festival will take place between the 25th of October and the 11th of November in Villerupt. “What’s left” will be screened on Thursday, the 7th of November at 20:30.
This documentary is the ninth of this Luxembourgish director. It was produced by Tarantula, supported by Film Fund Luxembourg and with the participation of Circolo Culturale e Recreativo Eugenio Curiel.
The film was shot in Luxembourg between December 2022, when Circolo Curiel closed down, and January 2024, when the building was torn down, with a part being filmed within Filmland studios in Kehlen. Some participants are Luxembourgish politicians who spent times in Circolo Curiel, such as Claude Turmes, Corinne Cahen, Mars di Bartolomeo, David Wagner, others are important people from the cultural world such as Enrico Lunghi (ex-director of MUDAM) and Alexis Juncosa (LuxFilmFest’s artistic director), but also historical members of the association like Giovanni Grilli, founding member of Curiel, and witness of the association’s political evolution, or Franco Barilozzi, founder of Migrations Festival, ex-president of Circolo Curiel, where he was the main link between the Italian community and the other foreign communities in Luxembourg for years.
The documentary looks at the ways in which the Circolo Curiel, in its trattoria guise, had a major influence on political and cultural life in Luxembourg.
The film will be released in Luxembourg cinemas on 20 November 2024.
